SA women happy with curves

FORGET fast-food. Fast-fitness is what people are craving. “Curves”, the quickest growing franchise in the world, has now arrived in Paarl to meet this demand for fitness on the fly.
Opening on Monday, the club is sure to prove popular with women who are seeking to make major changes in their lives.
In South Africa, as in 42 countries around the world, Curves is proving, one woman at a time, that less can be more when it comes to working out.
In just 30 minutes, women complete a circuit that provides a total body strengthening and cardiovascular workout.
On average, women are losing 1,5 to 4 kg a month and 10-14 unwanted cm without dieting.
“Curves’ success is based on a training circuit that is scientifically designed to meet the needs of the female body and, just as importantly, recognises the way women like to work out,” says Yvette Zive, owner of Curves Paarl.
Curves attributes its popularity to the fact that gyms can be intimidating places but at Curves, no one feels self-conscious.
Around the globe, millions of women, many 30 to 60 years old who haven’t exercised in years, are flocking to Curves in droves.
These women report that, though they recognise fitness is a preventative for stress, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, arthritis and osteoporosis, they couldn’t find the time, energy, or passion to work out.
“Curves provides affordable, hassle-free fitness, flexibility and weight loss in only 30 minutes,” adds Yvette Zive.
A recent study of the Curves fitness program released by Baylor University in the US confirmed the effectiveness of the workout to increase resting metabolism, leading to permanent weight loss.
The specially designed Curves equipment comprises low-injury hydraulic resistance machines for upper and lower body muscles that work two sets of muscle groups simultaneously and do not put strain on the joints.
Curves Paarl is located in the The Towers on Main Street. To book for a free consultation session, call 021-872-5450.
