Youth leader set example

LEADERS should set the example and lead the way.
This, and concerns over drug abuse in Drakenstein and matriculants that have no future, were some of the issues mentioned at a Drakenstein Youth Imbizo held at Wellington recently.
It was organised by the Drakenstein Youth Council and the Western Cape Youth Council.
The Imbizo was not well attended, but those present expressed their concerns about the youth council and what they have achieved since its establishment in April 2004.
Rudi Buys of the Western Cape Youth Council chaired the meeting and explained that the youth council is set to monitor and advise government and needs to be informed.
Buys also expressed the view that government will only deliver and respond up to the point where the youth push them.
A district youth conference is set to be held in June, with a Drakenstein youth conference before then.
The youths attending the Imbizo requested that members of the Drakenstein Youth Council be more visible. - Earl September
