People's Pinot
2007-05-10
AT the end of April, Sunday Times’ wine consumers voted Diemersfontein’s Pinotage their ‘overwhelming favourite’ in a nationwide competition, the results of which appeared in the Lifestyle section of the Sunday Times on 29 April.
The Diemersfontein Pinotage, which has distinct coffee and chocolate undertones on the nose, was given the title The People’s Pinotage by Neil Pendock in his weekly column ‘SideBar’.
When asked for comment on the results of the Pinotage survey, owner David Sonnenberg said: “We are thrilled to have such a wonderful response from South African wine lovers and the popularity of the Pinotage has made it possible for us to introduce loyal consumers to our other wines in the range”.
While stocks of the 2006 vintage are, due to demand, running low, Diemersfontein is gearing up for their annual Pinotage on Tap event celebrating the launch of the new vintage Pinotage on 29 September.
Diemersfontein has announced that 20 free tickets are on offer to wine lovers who email their contact details to pinotageontap @diemersfontein.co.za.
