2007-05-10
A DEVELOPER is planning to build a new filling station near the Huguenot station.
Developer Chris Moller of Stellenbosch has applied for permission to erect a service station and 24-hour shop at the intersection of the Huguenot Bypass and Ambagsvallei Street.
Discussions are underway with roads engineers for access to the service station, while technicalities regarding the underground storage of fuel needs to be cleared with the Municipality.
Objections if any must reach the municipal manager by 4 June.
* An application for rezoning and subdivision of 1,49 hectares of agricultural land outside Paarl has been submitted to Drakenstein Municipality.'
The developer plans to erect 42 medium priced housing units in a secure complex.
The land, part of the original Hartebeeskraal farm now named Rustig, is owned by the Kemp family.
It is located on the Keerweder Road near the Sonstraal intersection (directly north of the former Klein Drakenstein Prison).
Motivated objections, if any, should reach the municipal manager by 11 June.
* Meanwhile a site at the corner of Main and Koning Street in Paarl North is being serviced and an internal road constructed for the erection of seven townhouses.
According to the landowner, Jorrie Jordaan of Durbanville, the development has been approved, but approval of the building plans is now being awaited.
The upmarket townhouses will be three bedroomed, between 120 and 150 square metres in size, and in the old Paarl style.
