Wine and art auction

THE Rotary Club of Paarl will be conducting its fifth annual wine, art and jewellery auction on Saturday 9 June at Nelson’s Creek, Paarl. Auction items may be viewed from 16:00 onwards.
Registration for the auction commences at 17:00 and the auction itself will start at 19:00 and continues until starters are served at 20:30.
It will resume after the starters and continue until the main course commences. The auction will continue during the interval between the time the main course finishes and dessert is served.
The funds raised at this year’s auction will go towards the “Island Of Hope”, a community crisis centre in Paarl established by the Paarl Rotary, and other community projects supported by Rotary.
The “Island Of Hope”, constructed and equipped at a cost of approximately R3 million, provides a much needed haven where, primarily, abused children and women and victims of other forms of violence, can be accommodated, counselled and otherwise cared for until a more permanent solution can be found for them.
Tickets at R200 include snacks, drinks and a gourmet dinner with entertainment by a jazz singer.
