Fairview Wine Estate once again excelled at the 2007 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of Europe’s most prestigious award contests.

For the second consecutive year, Fairview was the only South African producer to receive the coveted Great Gold Medal.

This year, the 2004 Solitude Shiraz scooped the highest accolade of the competition for Fairview, emulating the performance of the 2005 Viognier and the 2005 La Beryl Blanc during last year’s competition.

The 2005 Fairview Shiraz and the 2004 Spice Route Flagship Syrah walked off with two of the 21 gold medals awarded during the 2007 contest, which saw 6000 entries from 43 countries.

According to Fairview owner Charles Back, they are very proud of the strong showing by the various Shiraz vintages.

“Fairview has performed consistently well at the Concours Mondial over the last few years, but we’re particularly pleased by the great results achieved by our Shiraz.
