Local players crowned champs

IT was an all Drakenstein affair at the Single darts competition of the Boland Board of Control on Saturday where local players won gold and silver in the men’s section with a first place in the women’s section too.
Approximately 80 of the top Boland players put their talent to the test. Norman Taute (Mount View) and Elrico Smith (Independent Flyers) went head to head in the final (gold), but it was Taute who came out victorious after ’n tough fifth-leg encounter.
In the final of the silver section Ricardo Alexander (Allandale) faced Lorenzo Arendse (Rockets).
The young Alexander had a great start, but it was the determination of Arendse which saw him take the honours.
The women’s final was a showcase in itself. Olivia Hendricks (Ambassadors) played against the experienced Protea player, Antoinette Britz (Rockets). Britz was expected to take the match, but Hendricks produced quality darts to win the encounter.
