THE computer room for learners at Wemmershoek Primary was officially opened last week.

The new facility forms part of the extensive facelift the school started going through during the middle of last year and which was initiated by Freya Adams, the then administrator of the estate of the late Fredagh Podlashuk of Bellingham.

Present at the function were Timothy Ndzuzo, Circuit Manager, Trevor Arendse, ICT Project Manager of Khanya Technology in Education, Temba Masiza of SAWITT and other sponsors of the project.

At the beginning of the project, Arendse had promised to supply computers for the school once the computer room was completed.

“We are thankful to all our generous sponsors, because this project was made possible through their involvement and generosity,” said principal Colin Thomas.

“This is a non-fee school and although this is not a really wealthy community, we still, with the parents, want it to become self-sustaining.”

He stated that the next step was to upgrade the toilets this year if time permitted and that the security and the sporting facilities also needed to be upgraded at the school.

Wemmershoek Primary services about 450 learners from the farming community near Franschhoek.
