Mr Paarl flexed for success

THE Paarl Physical Culture Club presented the first Carl Fredericks Memorial Bodybuilding Competition at the Huguenot Community Hall on Saturday .
Proceedings started early as the bronzed-up bodies of the contestants, entered into both the Mr Paarl and Mr Country, were set through a series of poses during pre-judging.
Participants ranged from u.13 through to the senior and masters u.40s and are all affiliated with the natural bodybuilding association.
No form of anabolic steroids are used by these bodybuilders, who rely purely on natural supplementation.
Two local veterans, August Adams and Douglas Green, sized each other up for the Mr Paarl masters u.40 section. After a tough round, Green narrowly escaped with the honours.The overall winner of the Mr Paarl competition was Granville Engelbrecht while Colyn Jacobs (Cape Town) was crowned Mr Country.
This event was held in preparation for the 2009 World Bodybuilding championship in Cape Town.
