Firghting fires

EVERY year the Winelands District Council purchases a number of fire-fighting trailer units to hand over to fireprotection agencies and conservancies.
Local recipients of trailers this year are Hawequa (Cape Nature), Waterfall Health Farm, L’Ormarins (Stellenbosch FPA) and Môrelig (Drakenstein FPA).
The trailers each worth R42 000, are used in the summer fire season and are of great help to landowners as an immediate response to fires.
With this immediate action,the farmers are of enormous assistance to the fire service by preventing fires from spreading and causing further damage. There are currently 65 trailers distributed throughout the Cape Winelands District.
