Boschendal Shiraz sets pace

ONLY weeks after celebrating Boschendal 1685 Chardonnay being awarded World Top 10 status at the Chardonnay du Monde Competition, Boschendal Reserve Shiraz 2003 has achieved a gold medal at the Syrah du Monde Competition held in France this week.
This international competition awarded the world’s best Syrah/Shiraz wines from wine regions across the globe. International experts tasted 320 wines of which only 108 medals were awarded.
Boschendal Shiraz Reserve 2003 was one of 8 South African wines that achieved Gold.
The year 2003 was great for the cultivation of full bodied red wines. Good winter rainfall, cool nights and warm days during ripening ensured the development of a powerful structure and complex flavours in our Shiraz.
This award is particularly exciting as Red Winemaker, James Farquharson, is dedicated to positioning Shiraz as the focal red variety for Boschendal.
“We are proud and excited to confirm the quality and distinction of our red wines, particularly the Shiraz Reserve 2003,” says James.
