Nine-to-Five all fun and action
2007-06-14
MOUNTAIN-BIKE enthusiasts and leisure cyclists can start warming up for the third Dirtopia Nine-to-Five Mountain-bike Team Relay which will take place at Delvera Farm in Stellenbosch next Saturday.
Several local riders have already entered this action-packed, fun-filled endurance race with categories for individual riders, teams of two and teams of four.
Junior, mixed and novice teams will also be able to test their stamina. The objective is to complete a 7km course in as many times possible within an eight hour period.
Team members do not have to ride in sequence and one member may do as many consecutive laps as he or she would like. The only requirement is that the difference in laps between the first and last riders should not exceed four.
With this event, Dirtopia contributes to conservation efforts by raising funds for conservancies while managing visitors to these areas.
According to organiser Meurant Botha, the vision is to create a network of well-planned, meticulously maintained and environmentally sustainable trail systems that can be financially viable at the same time.
