Gold for Hoopenburg
2007-06-21
HOOPENBURG winery was the only South African cellar to achieve a gold for Chardonnay at this year’s International Wine Challenge in London.
There were close on 9400 entries world-wide that were judged by 400 wine experts from 19 nationalities. Only 2,8% of entries achieved gold, with South Africa claiming 12 of these.
The gold winning Integer Chardonnay is a new ultra-premium range from Hoopenburg. It was the brain-child of the owner, Gregor Schmitz, and winemaker Neil Hawkins.
The new Integer range consists of 100% hand crafted white and red wine and aspires to becoming a Top Cape classic of the future.
