Under an Irish Moon

Under an Irish Moon

2005-03-09

THE Irish have historically been known as the great migrators. They exported their people, their beer, their whisky, their good nature all over the world, but most of all they exported their music.

On Friday 18 March Amanda Tiffin and Cedric Vandenschrik, backed by a band featuring the fiddle and the penny whistle, will be at the Barnyard Theatre at Bridge House with ‘Under an Irish Moon’.

The Irish traditional songs and instruments like the fiddle and the pennywhistle have survived into the 21st century and still generate that mystical aura around beautiful melodies.

For such a small little country, they have produced music that has reached people all over the world.

Since the 60’s, some legendary acts have come out of Ireland: Riverdance, U2, The Corrs, Van Morisson, The Commitments, The Cranberries, Chris de Burgh, The Chieftains, Bob Geldof, Sinead O’Connor, Ronan Keating, Tin Lizzy and many more will be paid tribute to in this “green” Musical Journey.

Ireland is a land of passion where people wear their hearts on their sleeves. Their music expresses that fiery passion for life, that tangible energy expressed in happiness, sadness or anger. From the pub songs to the super groups.

Come and discover the music from the Emerald Isle and the passion behind it that ignites it.
