AN exciting line-up of concerts featuring 25 top international and national artists, awaits concertgoers at this year's Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival, presented by the Department of Music, Stellenbosch University, at the Endler Hall from tomorrow to 15 July.
The ten-day long festival kicks off on Friday at 20:00 with a not-to-be-missed performance by eight young, virtuoso horn students from the Lisbon Metropolitan Academy of Music (Portugal) in a programme of light classical works.
Special highlights include a performance of the chamber version of Shostakovich’s Concerto for Piano by special guest artist and top South African entertainer, Nataniël.
This year the Festival Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by acclaimed maestro Victor Yampolsky, who also recently conducted the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.
On Friday 13 July at 20:00 and Sunday 15 July at 16:30, the orchestra can be heard in performances of Glazunov's Concert Valse No 2, the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto (with Daniel Rowland as soloist) and the Symphony No 2 of Brahms.
On Saturday 14 July at 20:00, the Festival Concert Orchestra conducted by Romanian-born conductor Corvin Matei, can be heard in performances of Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite, Schubert’s Symphony No 5 and a fun-filled performance of Allan Stephenson’s Toy Symphony with ’toy’ soloists to include Prof Andreas van Wyk (a former rector of Stellenbosch University), Prof Sandra Klopper, Robert Kotze and award-winning long distance swimmer and flautist, Carina Bruwer.

Tickets to the lunch hour concerts are R10 and will be available at the door.
Entrance to afternoon concerts and public master classes are free.
