New club gets local support

THE GlenWood La Motte Rugby Football Club, recently formed in Safcol La Motte, is receiving overwhelming support from the local community in their quest to win the league and gain promotion next season.
Not only do more than fifteen hundred supporters turn out on a Saturday afternoon, but a well-trained squad of drum majorettes perform and theme music greets any score from the home side.
Local businesses are also taking a keen interest in providing whatever assistance they can.
A few months ago, senior members of the community decided to establish the club to provide young people with the opportunity to participate in competitive sport.
No sooner had the announcement been made than 45 eager young men signed up to play. The club currently fields a single team which competes in the B Group of the Boland Region.
Having played 10 games, won 7, drawn one and lost 2, they are well-placed for promotion next season assuming their good form continues.
