Bass-ically brilliant
2007-07-12
ONE of South Africa’s foremost cellists, Peter Martens, will be performing with the internationally renowned double bassist, Leon Bosch, on Saturday 28 July at 20:00 in the Endler Hall. The evening’s programme will comprise inter alia Barriere's Sonata ŕ deux, Rossini's Duetto for Cello and Double bass, Stephenson's Sonatina for Cello and Double bass, Bach’s Suite no 1 for unaccompanied cello in G major, BWV 1007, as well as Theme and Variations of Pleyel.
“Bass-ically Brilliant” was formed in 2003 by two of South Africa’s most versatile and exciting string players.
Although Leon Bosch had left South Africa early in his career and had established himself as a musician of international reputate in the United Kingdom, the merge with Peter Martens came naturally.
