Tenor for Nederburg concert

THE second concert of the annual Nederburg Concert Series on Sunday evening at 17:00 features the talented Cape Town tenor Louis Loock.
Loock will perform various Schubert and Schumann Lieder and other popular songs from La Traviata, My Fair Lady, Les Miserables, Carousel, and a few Afrikaans favourites such as Karoonag and Jantjie.
Not just an accomplished singer, Louis is a talented dancer and has performed in a number of dance productions including Samantha Pienaar's Disruptions at the FNB Dance Indaba as well as Pienaar’s Dismembered.
He has also turned his hand to choreography and was nominated for a best choreographer award while at university.
Louis was also nominated as best actor at the University of Stellenbosch for three years in a row and he received his honours degree cum laude in mime and physical theatre and contemporary dance at Stellenbosch in 2003.
One of the highlights of his career so far was receiving a Kanna Award for best Classical Music Production at Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees in 2005 and he is excited about the prospect of launching his first CD on 21 September at the HB Thom Theatre in Stellenbosch.
The CD will feature Louis’s golden voice on tracks ranging from O solé Mio and Karoonag to his own songs; Nog net eenkeer, Sommer net and Nog in my laaste Woorde.
