Schools Sevens decided in Paarl

A NATIONAL Sevens rugby series has been launched for schools, with the tournament for the Western Cape region to be hosted by Paarl Gimnasium.
The series is supported by national Sevens coach, Paul Treu. Local schools are among the more than 20 Western Cape schools still to be invited to participate.
The Sevens will consist of ten tournaments all over the country and students from 200 schools across different regions are being invited to play.
The series kicks off on 4 August in Pretoria and ends on 27 October in Paarl.
These ten players will be invited by Treu to the Springbok’s Sevens training camp in preparation for the first two international Sevens tournaments in Dubai and George later on this year.
They will also be invited along as part of the @lantic Invitation Team that will travel to the Dubai Sevens tournament at the end of November.
According to Lindsy Mould, chairman of SA School’s Rugby, this is a fantastic intiative which should assist Paul Treu to identify talent for future Springbok Sevens teams as well as offering young players additional exposure and development opportunities.
