Choral work. In celebration of Sir Edward Elgar (1857-1934), a selection of his sacred and secular choral work, extracts from Dream of Gerontius solos and organ solos played by Marc Murray, will be featured at St Mary’s Cathedral, Roeland Street, Cape Town, tonight at 20:00. Tickets (R40) at the door.

Simonsvlei. Vir die volgende paar weke is daar hope vermaak by die Simonsvlei teater buite Paarl. Vanaand sal Hugo en Band optree. Saterdag 4 Augustus is dit “Tribute to Elvis Presley” deur Matt Stern. Op 23 Augustus tree die Boulevard Blues Band op en op 30 Augustus sal Zak van Niekerk en Band gaste vermaak. Ou Meul. Die eenmanvertoning deur Marianne Kitching, ’n Venster vol Son, is 15 Augustus in die Ou Meul teater in die Paarl. Die vertoning is gebaseer op die herstel van Alexa Kirsten van Wellington ná ’n wrede aanval en aangepas vir die verhoog deur mede-Wellingtonner Winnie Rust.
