Young artists go classical
2007-07-26
ON Saturday 4 August at 19:30 in the Artscape Theatre, fourteen exceptionally talented young classical music instrumental soloists and singers from the Western Cape will perform with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra at the annual Classical Music Festival.
This event, now in its 36th year, is presented by Artscape and the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) and serves as an important launching pad for young musicians in playing on a professional concert stage.
Ronnie Samaai, Paarlite and also member of the adjudicating panel, says: “We are extremely encouraged by the greater number of entries this year and by the standard of performance which is no doubt due to the quality of teaching in the Western Cape. I have been working on the panel for the past five years and each year is a unique experience.
“To have the opportunity of performing with the CPO is a rare opportunity so I salute these young people who have had the courage to audition and come through. It would be wonderful to see more brass players coming forward for the auditions next year.”
Tickets are R60 (R30 for pensioners and students).
Book through Computicket or call 021-421-7695.
