Businessman trounces robbers
2007-08-02
A LOCAL businessman trounced robbers on Saturday morning when he was held at gunpoint.
The man, who wishes to remain annonymous, because the robbers are still at large, went to the First National Bank in Lady Grey Street to make a large withdrawal of money on Saturday morning.
When he exited the building he was approached by two gun-wielding men who demanded that he hand over the cash.
“Without thinking I threw the money bag back into the bank and the men immediately turned and fled in a white Honda Ballade.
“My knees are still shaking if I think of what could have happened to me. It was all very frightening.
“Being the end of the month, I am convinced that the men had been watching the bank in wait of a soft target.”
Although the businessman was able to remember the registration number of the vehicle, CA54639, it was established that it had been stolen in Table View.
