LECTURES by a conservationist, a historian as well as a palaeontologist, have been arranged for this year’s Drakenstein Heritage Foundation winter lecture series at the Hout Street Art Gallery in Paarl.

Tonight Cape Town based ceramicist Kate Carlyle, owner of the internationally successful business Mustardseed & Moonshine, will talk about her art, inspirations and her botanically inspired crockery.

On 16 August historian Dr Dan Sleigh will be speaking on the 300th anniversary of the dismissal of Willem Adriaan van der Stel by the Dutch East India Company.

On 23 August Johan Burger, conservationist and archaeologist, will lecture on the Zimbabwe Ruins.

On 30 August British palaeontologist John Almond will be talking on geology and fossils.

Lectures are on a Thursday evening, at 19:30 for 20:00.
Tickets are R25 (R80 for the series).

Call the Hout Street Gallery (021-872-5030) for tickets.
