Dream come true
2007-08-08
THE Little Dolphins Crèche recently opened outside Franschhoek.
The crèche is a dream that has come true for farm worker Eveline Visser who worked at the local Bumble Bee crèche in the village, but saw that there was a need for the farm workers' children of the Verdun Road area for day care facility of their own.
Owners John and Liz Atkins of the farm La Dauphine kindly gave permission for the crèche to be erected on their property and the Lion Ladies of the Lions Club of Franschhoek sponsored the building. With the help of local businesses, Hercules Cement Products, Fromage de France and Franschhoek Built-It as well as Le Quartier Francais, they were able to put up a large wendy house that can accommodate up to 20 pre-school children.
Toys, furniture and stationery were donated by several kind-hearted individuals and today 11 little toddlers are already playing in a safe environment under the loving care of Eveline.
Plans are under way to improve the play area of the crèche.
If anyone wishes to contribute to this project, they can contact Lion Lady Lodine Maske at 082-372-2333.
