Trees bear money for artists
2007-08-16
A CREATIVE feast is on offer to primary and secondary schools in an Arbor Day Art Competition using the theme “Our Forests” as the point of departure.
Young artists are asked to produce a painting, using a wide range of materials, which reflects some aspect of a forest.
A prize package valued at R35 500 will act as an incentive for schools to become involved in this educational and creative process.
The competition is sponsored by Mountains to Oceans Forestry.
Closing date for entries is 21 September. Each entry must be accompanied by a short piece of creative writing based on the same theme.
The competition is split into two categories, primary and secondary/art school, so learners between the ages of 6 to 18 are invited to participate.
To obtain an entry form, or more competition details, contact Noel Johannessen at the Fairest Cape Association on 021-462-2040, fax on 021-461-9519 or email info@fairestcape.org.za.
