Songs of Praise

THE well-known community concert Songs of Praise, initiated and conducted by Richard Cock, will take place on Sunday at 15:00 in the Toringkerk in Paarl.
The choir of 320 voices, assembled from all over the Western Cape, includes the choirs of Paarl Girls' High and Gymnasium High School as well as the Wynland Choir.
Apart from the choir and audience that will join in the singing, the soloists include Hanneli Rupert (mezzo soprano) and Maria van der Merwe (soprano), as well as Sentibale Makara, Thesele Kemane and Monde Mdingi.
The singing is accompanied by the Cape Brass Ensemble, with Sue Cock at the piano and Grant Brasler at the organ.
In a work called Ewe Linamandla, a double quartet will sing with the choir of 320 voices. The choir will also perform The Highland Cathedral, accompanied by Rodney Muller on the bagpipe.
