A NEW contemporary fine art gallery - Off the Wall - has opened its doors in Paarl’s 171 Main Street.

“The birthing of a gallery fills my heart with joy,” Johannesburg artist and gallery owner Gordon Cloud, said at the opening last week.

“This exciting endeavour not only gives an opportunity to artists to put their works on the wall, it is also about boosting the creative art industry.”

The gallery curator is Wendy Roux, a Paarl Girls’ High matriculant who graduated at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography in 2005 and obtained her BA Degree in Applied Design, specialising in Graphic Design (cum laude).

In England she did freelance work including photographic shoots for music artists such as Anton Goosen and Schalk Joubert as well as portraits for the Royal Family from Abu Dhabi.

In 2007 she took part in FLESH! at the KKNK ’07.

She is currently freelancing as an artist, curator, designer and photographer and has an art consultancy business called Artcorp and now, the brand-new gallery called Off the Wall.
