THE Thokozani art gallery is due to open soon at Diemersfontein in Wellington.
The owner of Diemersfontein estate, David Sonnenberg, had discussions with artists who were offered an opportunity to own shares in their own gallery in partnership with the newly launched Thokozani empowerment company.
Initially five artists have committed themselves, but it is hoped over time to extend the shareholder colleague group to ten.
Works of many artists will be displayed by the gallery - not just the works of the shareholders.
Artists who wish to have their works considered will be invited to submit them on a quarterly basis.
Initially temporary exhibitions will be held until a permanent venue is created on the Estate.
