Driver of the year

THE Driver of the Year competition for the Western Cape was recently held in Paarl, to determine who will take part in the national competition.
The programme is designed to enhance the quality of heavy motor vehicle drivers in South Africa. The public and private sector utilise it as driver education for their respective vehicle fleets.
The best drivers are selected in the categories bus, rigid, articulated, rigid four-wheel, bus (female) and novice.
The novice category was introduced for the first time this year to capacitate less experienced drivers under the age of 25 years and to expose them to advanced/professional heavy motor vehicle driving.
The Western Cape Driver of the Year Competition is an annual event where drivers of the regional teams, namely Western Province (Metro), Cape Winelands (Boland) and South Western Districts (SWD) regions compete to be selected for the Western Cape Team to compete in Bloemfontein.
