Council invests in tourism development
2007-09-06
THE Drakenstein mayoral committee has agreed to have, in conjunction with partners, their own Drakenstein stand at next year’s Tourism Indaba and to contribute R136 000 towards the stand.
Of this amount, R114 000 will be paid for floor space, R20 000 for a stand and R2 000 for courier services.
The Indaba in Durban is South Africa’s largest “shop window” for the international travel trade.
Previously, Drakenstein has formed part of the Cape Winelands District Municipality because of budget constraints.
Drakenstein plans to partner the stand with Paarl Tourism and Wellington Wine and Tourism, who will provide products like wine, olives and cheese, while the municipality will represent developmental tourism products and be available for generic information about the area.
