Unsafe parking
2007-09-13
I HAVE been travelling from Huguenot Station since 1988 and over the years heard numerous stories of cars being stolen, broken into or maliciously damaged in the parking area in front of the station.
Numerous attempts have been made to address safety on trains and thus we have to salute the efforts of Metrorail in this regard.
However, it is evident that the safety of the premises, parking spaces, flow of traffic to and from stations and the general well-being of the average commuter still require drastic interventions to secure peace of mind regarding the safety of self, vehicle, other means of transport and or personal belongings.
As a commuter and someone who believes that when you know better, you do better, I write this letter to urge affected people to pressurise the authorities to secure safer environments for commuters before the next car stolen at the Huguenot Station is your car...
