Youthful actors on Cape Town stage

IN its quest to promote indigenous drama, Artscape annually hosts the High School Drama Festival.
In June, 40 Western Cape schools took part in two mini-drama festivals where they presented their own home-grown productions in one of the province’s official languages.
The 15 schools which demonstrated the most potential, were invited to perform their productions at the High School Drama Festival from 10 to 13 September.
Included was Desmond Tutu High’s drama group from Paarl, who were on stage with their production of “Cul de Sac”. They are trained by Wiwe Pretorius, assisted by Hein Poole.
A gala performance of the best play was followed by an awards ceremony to honour the best production, director, script and performers on Saturday evening.
