Beware of these 'liquor consultants'
2007-09-20
I WOULD like to point out to shebeen owners who wish to apply for tavern licences that there is no need to go through intermediaries.
Consult a Firearm & Liquor Office at the nearest police station for the necessary information to draft a Liquor Application.
The second option is to consult UKUSA licencing from SAB, the company which is contracted to assist people with their applications.
However I must warn you that there are some people who are taking advantage of this process. People are paying huge sums of money, sometimes R2000 to R4000 to people who claim to be good in drafting these documents.
These individuals are corrupt, fraudulent, and are taking advantage of people who are not educated and who do not have the correct information. These “consultants” are promising people heaven and earth and nothing is coming from it.
How can people pay so much for information that is free to them? At the end of the day we complain to the police trying to recover money paid to these people unnecessarily.
Liquor Licences can only be issued by the Liquor Board after receiving an application and taking into account any objections received.
No individual can promise you a liquor licence!
