Nederburg a hit in Germany
2007-09-20
NEDERBURG has earned four medals – two golds and two silvers - on the prestigious 2007 MUNDUSvini awards in Germany.
The organisers of the event claim it is the largest officially recognised wine competition in the world, drawing many thousands of entries annually.
Its panels comprise a mix of oenologists, retailers, sommeliers, restaurateurs and wine journalists to reflect a broad spectrum of public opinion. The wins, says marketing manager Misti Watson, represent a major coup for Nederburg, South Africa’s brand leader in the premium wine segment.
The German gold medallists are Nederburg’s Pinotage and Merlot, both of the 2005 vintage and Classic tier wines.
Silvers have gone to the 2005 Manor House Shiraz, which took gold on the inaugural Shiraz du Monde held in France earlier this year, as well as to the newly released 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, another Classic tier wine.
