HAVING already brought home several gold medals from a host of prestigious international wine awards this year, La Motte’s success is set to continue as they claimed another two awards at the 2007 MUNDUSvini Great International Wine Awards in Germany recently.
MUNDUSvini has become the largest officially recognised wine competition in the world, this year welcoming a record-breaking 4 925 entries from 35 countries.
Close to 5 000 wines were put to the test as each one swirled around the expert palates of the international jury. The competitive nature of this esteemed competition is further intensified in that no more than 30 percent of the wines entered may be awarded medals.
La Motte received Gold for the 2005 Shiraz Viognier from their Pierneef collection and Silver for the 2004 Millennium from their classic range.
La Motte’s winemaker, Edmund Terblanche, is very pleased with the outcome: “The MUNDUSvini Awards are an extremely prominent event on the wine industries' annual calendar and we feel honoured and proud to have brought home two medals.
“These awards are yet another testament to La Motte’s dedication to producing world-class wines and commitment to excellence.”
To date this year La Motte has won the following awards: five gold awards at the annual Concours Mondial de Bruxelles competition for its 2005 La Motte Shiraz, 2004 La Motte Millennium, 2004 La Motte Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005 La Motte Chardonnay and 2005 La Motte Pierneef Shiraz Viognier.
It also won gold for its acclaimed 2005 Pierneef Shiraz Viognier at the International Wine Challenge as well as the South African Shiraz trophy and the South African Red Wine Trophy for the 2005 Pierneef Shiraz Viognier.
La Motte also has an ethereal oil production operation.
