Early Christmas for crèche

Early Christmas for crèche

2007-09-27

LAST year December, Thembinkosi crèche in Mbekweni was one of a number of underprivileged crèches invited to join an outreach programme that was organised by Light and Life Cell Church – Paarl.

The toddlers’ and young childrens’ afternoon was filled with a nutritional lunch, puppet shows, singing, dancing and playing games and each child went home with a gift bag filled with toys and school accessories.

TheThembinkosi crèche was exceptionally well behaved and very polite and this had touched the hearts of many who were involved with the organising of the outreach.

Patricia Vuka shared her hearts’ desire for the development of her crèche in the tiny classroom filled like a tin of sardines with 60 toddlers.

They are still struggling to get things back to order after the crèche burnt down in 2005. Drakenstein Municipality had heard of their problems and donated R4500 to the Outreach and a certain amount to Thembinkosi crèche, who had left footprints on their hearts.

Wednesday it was not Santa Claus carrying toys and educational school accessories through their front door, but representatives of the Drakenstein Municipality along with Mabel van Schalkwyk who had gone to visit Thembinkosi crèche in Mbekweni.

Thembinkosi is not out of the danger zone yet, for they do not have proper toilet facilities.

The toddlers are forced to go outside and use a plastic bowl which is placed on a low bench.

What maybe a little to us, is a lot to Thembinkosi Crèche.
