Rotary project forges ahead
2005-06-09
WORK has started on Paarl Rotary’s centennial project with the clearing of the site at the Salvation Army grounds in Breda Street.
This huge project has been undertaken as a leap of faith by Paarl Rotary club to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Rotary, and it is intended to fulfil a major need in the Paarl Valley.
Paarl Rotary has undertaken to build a facility to house a care and counselling centre that will be run by the Salvation Army to care for the abused children and women of Paarl.
At present no facility exists to cater for this urgent need, and the problem is growing.
Because of a lack of facilities, children are often released after hospital care, back into the environment of their abusers.
The project is estimated to cost R2,7 million and to date Rotary has collected close to R1 million in cash and in kind.
The public of Paarl have opened their hearts to the innocent children of Paarl, and Rotary is confident that with your help, and the help of others like you, their target can be reached.
