Beaded artwork
2007-10-11
BEADED artwork by a group of talented young women from Mbekweni, is being exhibited at Paarlberg BMW in Main Street from Saturday.
The beaded artwork was inspired by photographer Bernard Edmaier and is an interpretation of Edmaier’s soda springs in the dark salt marshes of Lake Natron, Tanzania, Africa.
The artwork will be up for auction (silent bid) on Saturday 20 October, the last day of the exhibition.
The project is in aid of promoting entrepreneurship amongst women in Mbekweni, says Sihan Wiid.
Women in the project are Zingisa Tapuko, Milca Kutsonga, Lenie Fortuin, Beaullar Zisengwe and Cathrine Motsi.
This program is managed and co-ordinated by artists Sihan Wiid, Raag Strydom and Johann du Plessis.
