Two takers for darts glory
2005-03-09
THE race for first spot in the Boland Districts’ Memorials competition seems to be a two horse affair.
With only a couple of points difference between the teams of Independent Flyers and Allandale, the last round will be an all out decider.
Allandale will have to contend with an in form Mount View team, whilst Flyers will have to pull out all the stops against a motivated United team.
Although Allandale thrashed Flyers 8-3 in their earlier encounter, Magnolia provided Flyers with chance when they beat Allandale 6-5. Magnolia’s victory was largely due to great singles play by junior protea-player, Rozaan Sitzer who beat Charles Cloete. David Solomons sealed the victory after beating Stoney Steenkamp in a titanic match.
Players who threw 180’s are Wilfred Raats (2), Gavin Naidoo (2), Charles Cloete, Willie Manuel (all from Allandale), Thurlough Lottering, Joe Jonkers, Shaan Matthee, Abri Petersen (Independent Flyers), Jacques Manus (2, United), Eduardo Solomons (Magnolia) and Rozaan Sitzer (Magnolia).
Wayne Harker of Magnolia boasts with the highest opening score of 118, whilst the honours of the highest closing score (160) goes to Kevin van der Westhuizen.
The Inter Districts matches of the Boland Darts Board starts on 19 March at the Ambagsvallei Sport Complex.
