2007-10-18
NOVEMBER promises to be a floury affair at Fairview Cheese and Wine Estate in Agter Paarl when Swedish bread specialist Johan Sörberg rolls up his sleeves for four days of intensive training in the art of bread baking.
From 6 to 10 November, he will bring this quest to Fairview when he’ll be conducting a series of hands-on workshops with the bakery team at The Goatshed.
The 39-year-old Sörberg is a professional baker in Stockholm and has been practising his art for over twenty years.
As the current coach of the Swedish national baking team, Sörberg brings a wealth of experience to the team, which hopes to capture the coveted Coup de Monde title during the world championships in France next year.
Sörberg is renowned for his famous bakeries Riddarbageriet and Rivalbageriet and recently opened a small café eatery No. 19 in central Stockholm.
As published author, restaurant consultant, TV chef and media personality, Sörberg hopes to inspire an evolution in the bakery trade and to capture the knowledge of generations past.
According to Fairview Cheese and Wine Estate Manager Andy Kung, this intensive in-house training programme reinforces Fairview’s commitment to quality.
“Our philosophy is to offer our customers' unbeatable quality and we feel that we can only do this if our staff received training of international standards. In this case, who better to approach than a world-renowned craftsman with decades of experience.
