LOCAL company Ceres Fruit Juices is one of the six finalists that have powered their way into the short list of finalists for this year’s ABSA Cape Regional Chamber’s Exporter of the Year Competition
The six companies are competing for three awards in addition to the main floating trophy.

One is for smaller companies, one for non-manufacturing exporter and one for the engineering exporter. Ceres Fruit Juis won the trophy for exporters in the non-manufacturing category.

Ceres Fruit Juices, makers of Ceres, Liqui-fruit and Fruitree products and part of the Pioneer Food Group based in Paarl, have found a ready market for quality juices.

Most of their products go to the local market, but exports now account for 22 percent of their output and are growing by double digit percentages in most markets.

Nearly 40 percent of exports go to sub-Saharan African countries and the company is now testing the waters in China, India and Brazil and the prospects look good.
