Bestbier leaves KWV
2007-10-18
ONE of the senior staff members of KWV, Willem Bestbier (49) has parted ways with his employer after 25 years.
Bestbier, director of production at KWV and previously MD of KWV SA (the production arm of the company), left the company a week ago.
His twin brother Johan, who was head of the marketing arm, KWV International, left the company earlier this year due to restructuring.
The comprehensive restructuring is undertaken by the new MD, Thys Loubser, who took over from Dr Willem Barnard in February.
Loubser has opted to merge the two subsidiaries, KWV SA and KWV International, into one unified, flatter structure.
According to spokesperson, Willem Bestbier left “by mutual agreement” because he and Loubser did not see eye to eye on the restructuring process, specifically in the production department. He will be on the KWV pay roll until the end of the year.
KWV reported an operating loss of R4,2million over the year.
* Johan has been appointed GM of Kleine Zalze Wines.
