2007-10-25
WELL-KNOWN mime performers Theo and Jolie Williams from Pasadena, California, have won hearts worldwide.
They are scheduled to perform in Paarl on Sunday evening at the AGS Church and on 4 November at the evening service of the Strooidak Church, followed on 11 November by the Wellington East NG Kerk.
South African born Theo has had extensive formal training in the arts of mime, ballet, acting, gymnastics, and karate, as well as stage combat and fencing.
Theo has trained as protégé under Todd Farley in Mimeistry’s School of Ministering Arts in Pasadena, California, and under Marcel Marceau in the Summer of 2002.
Being hailed as “the future of Mime” by Marcel Marceau, Theo currently directs Mimeistry International with his wife Jolie.
Together they direct Mimeistry, an arts organisation with a difference; it exists to promote excellence in the use of mime, drama and dance by those who wish to explore and share a Christian basis for living.
They not only support community groups and neighborhood churches across the world with performance-based activity, but provide professional training for individuals and groups who wish to develop their own theatre skills to the highest level.
Theo and Jolie conduct local, regional, national and international workshops in the technique of mime and liturgical dance and host lectures and seminars on the Biblical foundation for the arts.
Based in Pasadena, they direct and lead a network of artists and pastors that have representatives in the US, New Zealand, Great Britain, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, South Africa and Brazil.
