A LOCAL girl and her dog recently came up trumps during the South African Regional Dog Jumping and Agility Trials which were held in Knysna.

Members of the Boland Team, Michelle Turner (20) and Nicky, a very bouncy miniature French Poodle, came third overall in the Tiny category in the Regional Trials, as well as third overall in the National Trials, held during the same week-end.

Michelle is a second year teaching student at CPUT.

In November Michelle and Nicky as well as many other dog-jumping teams from the area can be seen in action during two championships which will be held in Wellington.

On 9, 10 and 11 November the KUSA Working Discipline Championship Show Extravaganza Weekend will be hosted by the Boland Dog Training Club at the De Villiers Stadium.

This is a highlight of the dog-jumping calendar and during this weekend, dogs and handlers from across the country will be competing in various agility events, dog-jumping, fly-ball and obedience, as well as carting events.

The Boland Working Dog Club Regional Trials will follow on 16, 17 and 18 November, also at the De Villiers Stadium.

These events promise much entertainment for both adults and children and all are welcome.
