Gold medals for Wamakersvallei

THE local and international awards circuit has once again been swept by Wamakersvallei Winery in Wellington.
The distinguished Wellington cellar has built up an enviable reputation for producing world class wines to suit every palate across the price range.
Evidence of this is the cellar’s sterling performance at recent awards ceremonies. Wamakersvallei Winery garnered an impressive host of trophies for its wines, outperforming top producers from around the world.
First-off the cellar received a Gold Medal at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards for its La Cave Shiraz 2004.
At the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London, a global wine industry benchmark event, two Wamakersvallei wines were selected for medals.
The Phambili Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2004 walked off with a Silver Medal (best in class), while the La Cave Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 bagged a Bronze Medal.
Another two single vineyard stunners from Wamakersvallei made off with medals at this year’s Veritas Wine Awards gala ceremony.
The La Cave Pinotage 2006 clinched a Double Gold, while the La Cave Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 sailed off with a Silver.
The La Cave Pinotage 2006 is evidence yet again of the high calibre of fruit from the Wellington region.
At the recent Wine magazine Best Value Awards, the cellar’s Bain’s Way Chenin Blanc 2007 scooped a listing in this revered annual competition.
