EMPLOYEE volunteers of First National Bank’s Western Cape Academy have demonstrated their commitment to helping others by taking a day out of the office to lighten the load off employees of Bowy House in Paarl.
The volunteer team helped with general cleaning of the facility, administration, and assisted with child care are duties.
This FNB initiative is in support of national Do It Day which is organised annually by GreaterGood South Africa (GGSA), and aims to connect all South Africans with a non-profit organisation in order to share skills and energies which these worthy organisations normally would not have access to.
FNB Brand Director Derek Carstens backs this initiative: very often people want to make a contribution but simply dont know how to go about it. Our volunteer programme works closely with NGOs, like GGSA, to find opportunities for our staff to make a difference.
This FNB employee volunteer initiative forms part of the FirstRand Volunteers Programme.
The programme was launched in December 2002 to support and encourage FirstRand group employees to participate in community initiatives. Where employees give of their time or money, the FirstRand Matched Funding Programme meets them rand for rand.
Since the programme was launched, employees have donated R6,3 million to charity organisations and FirstRand have matched this.
