Noise pollution in Paarl

Noise pollution in Paarl

2007-11-22

NOISE pollution by motorcycles as described in Paarl Post 8 November, is an increasing form of terror created by people who otherwise fail of being recognised in society. Paarl is full of people driving recklessly in vehicles and on motorcycles which have incorrect exhaust silencing fitted.

As if this is not enough noise, some motorists fit sound systems which are audible for many hundreds metres away from the source.

Before anybody calls me a racist or elitist, I categorically state that this type of uncivilised behaviour is found in all shades of colour, in all groups of income and surprisingly even in all age groups (look at Harleys for example).

There are very defined and fitting laws for noise, speed, recklessness etc. They must just be used and applied.

The pathetic passage in the article spoken by the almighty municipal manager points to the centre of all evil, because not doing anything against unlawful activities within their administrative boundaries just exactly means the opposite to their claim: They do in fact condone uncivilised behaviour by doing nothing - to the detriment of all law abiding citizens of Paarl.

Pro law enforcement
