“YES it’ showtime again,” says local film producer Jeffrey Moss of Moss Productions and Peet Neethling of Mema Media.
Two of their films, “It’s My Life” and “Wanneer die Dop Skop,” will have their premiére on Tuesday evening at 17:00 in the police auditorium in Main Street, Paarl.
“The films are part of the Cape Winelands District Municipality’s projects on substance abuse and TB/HIV,” says Myrtle Williams, regional manager Health Projects for CWDM.
Moss and Mema Media shot the two films in and around Paarl and they’ve made use of local talent to feature in them.
“Wanneer die Dop Skop” is written by Moss and is a powerful story of an alcohol-addicted father (played by Moss himself), who goes through the hardship of addiction.
It depicts the effects on family life, friends, work and how he has to deal with the problems.
Domestic violence, abuse and lies are brought forward by the powerful cast.
“It’s My Life” deals with lifestyle diseases.
Talented actor Chantal Lewis plays the role of a clinic sister who has to fulfil the roles of nurturer, nurse, advisor, and mother.
She has to deal with everyday health and clinical problems in a certain community.
The film educates its audience about the dangers of living dangerously and irresponsibly and shows the effects of different kinds of lifestyle diseases.
The films will also be available at the offices of CWDM throughout the district and in Paarl at 194 Main Street.
It can be seen at all the hospitals, clinics, youth centres and schools.
