EARLIER hits year, KWV’s 15-Year Brandy was crowned the International Wine and Spirit competition’s best brandy of the year in London. Subsequently, Paarl Labels have won two awards for the printing of this champion brandy’s label.
Paarl Labels, printer of high quality, creative self-adhesive labels for the wine, food and beverages, cosmetics and petroleum industries, received a silver award from the Institute for Packaging of SA for the printing of the KWV 15-year-old brandy label.
This is this particular label’s second silver award in less than four months. It also scooped a silver in the category of Best Spirit Label in the UPM Raflatac Wine and Spirit Labels of Excellence Awards during July this year.
The Institute for Packaging of SA’s awards booklet remarked: “This beautifully printed label crowns KWV’s range of three, five, ten and now 15-year-old brandies. The judges were entranced by the printing of four solid colours, silver foiling, screen varnishing to create a relief effect, and satin UV varnish to create the label’s velvety appearance.”
According to Paarl Labels Managing Director, Callie de Wet, these industry awards focus on the innovative execution of creative labels.
“The KWV 15-year-old label was printed on our MPS nine colour label press, which offers high quality, flexible label printing.
“We used Mirrorkote C58 paper, which is manufactured at the Oji paper mill in Japan and locally supplied by Antalis. We are proud of this label and believe the support of our esteemed client KWV has gone a long way in helping us secure these awards. This label crowns KWV’s 15-year-old brandy, which is a champion in a class of its own.”
Other exciting news from Paarl Labels is that it has received a AAA Black Economic Empowerment rating.
Commented de Wet: “Our AAA rating is supported by the 26% shareholding in Paarl Labels of Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment partner Kurisani Investments (which is the investment arm of South Africa’s HIV/Aids network for the youth, loveLife), our employment equity policy, our commitment to social investment and the development and training of our people.”
