THE Aikido Clubs in Klapmuts and Paarl are currently preparing for the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Aikido Federation of South Africa.

The event at the Jameson Hall at UCT started yesterday and will continue until Sunday.

Close to 200 participants from SA, Japan, Russia, Italy, Reunion, UK, Canada, Saipan and China will be attending the event while receiving teachings from some of the most senior and reputable teachers in the world.

The highlight of the event will be the embukai (Aikido demonstration) which will display the highest level of Aikido insight and capability as demonstrated by the Japanese shihan as well as local participants representing the various regions of SA.

Aikido is a timeless martial art with values that are in keeping with modern living

Besides being a functional self-defence system, it is also an effective and enjoyable way to stay supple, fit and healthy.
